چکیده

Meiosis is the least explored stage for thermotolerance in wheat. We evaluated impact of 5 d moderate transient daily heat stress during meiosis main stem spike on physiological and grain yield traits 30 diverse wheat cultivars which vary widely tolerance sensitivity. found that a event had lasting impacts plant growth reproduction heat-sensitive, but not heat-tolerant, cultivars. Heat-tolerant maintained yield, number individual weight also total biomass treatment relative to control. Heat-sensitive responded by producing fewer smaller grains per spikelet stem, tillers, lower high temperature produced higher flag leaf chlorophyll content control than heat-tolerant first 3 treatment. There was small reduction pollen viability from 98% 96% following unrelated or Moderate did greatly reduce production viable male gametes, long-lasting negative fertilization subsequent seed heat-sensitive

Evaluation of growth, yield, relative performance and heat susceptibility of eight wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes grown under heat stress

Eight spring wheat cultivars were evaluated under three heat stress conditions (early, late and very late) in order to identify suitable cultivars to develop heattolerant genotypes resistant to future global warming. Results from the study indicate that stress did not negatively affect flag leaf area in ‘Prodip’ and ‘Sufi’, flag leaf dry matter partitioning in ‘Prodip’, ‘BARI Gom-26’ and ‘S...

Alleviation of salt stress by halotolerant and halophilic plant growth-promoting bacteria in wheat (Triticum aestivum)

In the current study, 18 halotolerant and halophilic bacteria have been investigated for their plant growth promoting abilities in vitro and in a hydroponic culture. The bacterial strains have been investigated for ammonia, indole-3-acetic acid and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate-deaminase production, phosphate solubilisation and nitrogen fixation activities. Of the tested bacteria, eight wer...

The wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) leaf proteome.

The wheat leaf proteome was mapped and partially characterized to function as a comparative template for future wheat research. In total, 404 proteins were visualized, and 277 of these were selected for analysis based on reproducibility and relative quantity. Using a combination of protein and expressed sequence tag database searching, 142 proteins were putatively identified with an identificat...

Salt stress effect on wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) growth and leaf ion concentrations

Crops growing in salt-affected soils may suffer from physiological droughtstress, ion toxicity, and mineral deficiency which then lead to reduced growth andproductivity. A pot experiment was conducted to study the effect of differentsalinity levels, i.e. ECe=3 dS m-1 (control), 8, 12 and 16 dS m-1 on wheat grainyield, yield components and leaf ion uptake. Desired salinity levels were obtainedby...

Characterization of differentially expressed stress-associated proteins in starch granule development under heat stress in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).

Abiotic stress causes abrupt increase in the expression of stress-associated proteins, which provide tolerance by modulating the defense mechanism of plants. Small heat shock proteins (sHSPs) and anti-oxidant enzymes are important for environmental stress tolerance of the plants. In this study, two full-length cDNAs encoding small heat shock protein (sHSP) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), design...
